I'm pleased to report that I now have bonnet rubbers available for the 2 Litre Saloons. These were specially made with new tooling, working from my surviving 1949 original.
Note that most Bucklands don't use this type of bonnet rubber, except for a few of the AC built versions.
I'm still wondering about the best way to stick these seals down? AC originally pinned them down with escutcheon-pins, (angled rearwards) driven into the plywood bulkhead. Maybe that accelerated wood rot? The seal does need some mechanical means to hold it down, even if you use a suitable modern sealant or adhesive.
In other areas of the car where AC used nails, I substituted tiny no.4 stainless woodscrews, and I might try them on this seal? I might coat the screws with sealant (or even red rubber grease?) for good measure?
I am interested in any other suggestions, or experiences, of fixing down this seal. Maybe some research and development is needed? :)
