My shifter on AK2003 was loose and there was no way to remove the boot to reach the bolts. The trans boot and the brake boot were both riveted from the bottom.  On the MKIV if you remove the seats, the seat belt reels, the seat belt anchors and ten sheetmetal screws the transmission tunnel comes right out provided you have the shifter in 1st, 3rd or reverse.  Once you tighten the shifter bolts then reverse the installation and celebrate.  In truth as frustrating as this seems it only took an hour.

All I know is I have AK2003.  I don't know why it was numbered that way.

On the opposite side of the issue I got my first Action and I can say well done.  Everyone has a different perspective on these sorts of things but as Abraham Lincoln said "you can please some of the people some of the time but you cannot please all of the people all of the time."  Enjoying my Mark IV and wish the pond was not so big.

My view is that everyone with an AC gets a voice but, please understand, I am new here.

Eric

Do you mean ERA as in Raymond Mays / Bourne / they only made 17 and all 23 have survived ?  If so which one ?

Michael

Michael the ERA that I had was a fiberglass replica cobra that I had in the last 1980's. I think they produced a lot of cars.  Their website is erareplicas dot com.

For better or worse it is mine now.  By the way, if you go look at the car let me know what you think.

After several attempts to buy a MKIV I bit the bullet and bought one yesterday that had been on BAT.  It did not meet the reserve but the seller and I reached an agreement and it will be heading my way soon.  I have an assortment of Shelby's and Mustangs but always wanted another Cobra after owning an ERA a long time ago.  Look forward to lurking around here and learning as I know very little about these cars.
