Hi Clifford, not sure if it'll be of any help, but having read Emmanuels advice thought it might be worth mentioning that the engineer at Bonhams told me that he'd ran the engine (though he had to wiggle the key to get it to start)..and that it ticked over ok but cut out whenever he tried to rev it. Well done Clifford,

I don't know if you were one of the chaps I spoke to on Sunday whilst examining the car, but I just wanted to say I don't hate you....rather I spent the drive home afterwards kicking myself and wondering if I should have ignored all the advice my learned engineer friends gave me!!

   Still wondering....!

   Regards,

   Tony.

Hello everyone, I've been reading your messages and gathering information on 428 convertibles prior to attending yesterdays bonhams auction, where I had hoped to finally become the proud owner of one of these magnificent vehicles.

I could just see myself...warm summer evenings, phil collins "In the air tonight" complimenting the soundtrack of that lovely big V8.....

Sadly though (for me anyway) someone else had deeper pockets, or was perhaps less daunted by the amount of rust and filler on that particular car,and having listened (for once!) to advice from friends with better engineering knowledge, I returned home empty handed.

I would still like to find one, so if anyone knows of one for sale or is considering selling, or has any advice on where to find one or what to look for, please could you let me know. I'm sure there's a bit of a waiting list there, but as a car designer myself I promise to take care of it, cherish it and drive it in the manner to which it deserves..... No dusty museums or quick buck car showrooms I promise!!

I'm happy to consider one that needs work and can be contacted on 07974 729144 or tony_hunter007@yahoo.co.uk

In the meantime... carry on enjoying your cars...you lucky, lucky people....!

   Tony.
