   Take some pictures of it before you start to pull it apart and then the DVLA will arrange an inspection but they won't if it is several boxes of bits, they want inspect a complete unrestored car
    They like to see the original no plate on the car and the chassis plate in the photos
   From the factory records it looks as though it should have a CL engine fitted if it has you are a lucky man!

The hood /roof catches were pretty simple over centre catches that I suspect were made by Bucklands or some local tame engineer
   Would you like some photos and sizes of them as they would be pretty easy to make   Mike Smith

   Below is the answer from Robin Woolmer when I asked the same question 2 years ago
   Basically use the old type of antifreeze and nothing modern including Evans and any water free ones
   The VSCC members believe that the original grade of Bluecol is the best for pre war & historic engines including Aluminium, I am about to purchase some myself & the recommended grade is BLA005 (5 litre tub), you can look it up on there web site ' www.bluecol.co.uk '
   There was a great deal of dialogue on the VSCC Forum also considering the ' Evans' offering which was not at all recommended.

   Nobody has any idea what they are for!!
   Mike Berrisford and myself have had a batch of manifold plates made up to make a free flow down pipe instead of the cast iron manifold and steel flexi one
   I think I also have a starting handle if you are still looking for one

   Not many body panels are interchangeable I'm afraid
   The following to my knowledge are
   The Bonnet or Hood to you !
   The Grill and bumpers or fenders! and possibly the rear wings and that is about it
    if you have 2 front wings then it may be possible to use them both but the headlights are a different height on the saloon
   Screen and all the interior are totally different
    As you say all the running gear and electrics can be changed

I have some conrods if you need them  you will probably need to rewhite metal them though.
   It is highly unlikely that any others will fit as they are unique to the AC engine

The car in Portugal is the prototype Buckland that features on all the Buckland Brochures, the original UK registration was KUR 363 and it was exported in a pretty dire state some 15 years ago. It now looks absolutely fantastic!

   Your car is still on the register as it is still owned by one of our more industrious members who helps run Glam Cabs at the Goodwood Revival meeting and his plans were to restore it and make it the 3rd Buckland in the fleet !!
    As of 2010 this hadn't actually happened but as far as I know it may well in the not too distant future. I have been in touch and hopefully he will get back to me and then I will put him in touch with you

    You will need a completely  new metalastic damper and pulley they are a bit thin on the ground Stuart Wallace was advertising one in Action  a few months ago If it has gone try Rod Briggs by the way are you still looking for a starting handle as I have just found one in my shed
