Would it be worthwhile speaking to one of the specialist firms who make or repairs the cables, e.g. http://www.speedograph-richfield.com/

In the advert (prewarcar.com) for L550, it states that the US exports had a wider body,  I know that most of (all?) the US cars had wide track axles but to my eyes, from the photos, the body looks the usual width but the wings look wider.

CSX3015  A lesson to anyone thinking that it's easy to make money on these cars, bought for $5million in Jan 07 sold for $4.65million eight years later.  Were the prices inc. buyers premium and presumably the sale incurred commission, so the real loss was probably nearer $1million.
However it's all relative to someones wealth!

The inability to roll to any extent sounds like a serious problem to a car transport firm!
I used these people to transport a car a couple of years ago, (but it was rolling!) they were fair value and helpful.

I had rather assumed that replacement water jackets were usually required when the jackets had suffered excessive corrosion and were no longer structurally sound,  if the problem is solely porosity could this be cured with resin impregnation under a vacuum?

if you can draw up the art work, someone like  https://www.tribalsigns.co.uk/shop/  could probably produce it.

Sadly you are incorrect, the Bentley Drivers Club forum has even less activity.

Do I recall correctly that the chassis number was often stamped on the hatch back lock (the bit that engages with the body)?

Depending on where you are, this guy is excellent at one off systems.

From the website - "Not recommended for unpressurised cooling systems or for systems on early vehicles fitted with grease filled (Gland type) water pumps."
I'm not sure how this product reduces running temperature, is its specific heat higher than pure water?  I wonder why it's unsuitable for unpressurised systems?

Presumably the $65k bid was the owner trying to create interest! I do hope it gets the restoration it deserves.
