It seems possible that at least one MKV went to the states in component form according to this 2006 article.

Hi Max,

I'll post prices when available, makes sense to get a few made up as the originals will all fail at sometime.

Regards,

David

Happy New Year to all.

DE1017 had a top hose fail this morning, an easy fix if only I could find the part !

Assumed mustang but nothing of similar appearance comes up on UK or USA searches so I'm thinking this may be a bespoke item or from another marque that I can't identify.
Only reference on the pipe is a very faint series of numbers 32 952 X 94 38 2 which on a google search brings up nothing of relevance.

If anybody has a spare or knows where it came from I'd appreciate it, if not I'll look to get a couple made or maybe more if any of you guys would like a spare.

Best regards,

David

Hi James,

The Lister Cars visit was scheduled to be part of this years National Day weekend event the dates of which have now changed to 15th / 16th June as detailed in ACtion.

Lister Cars were unable to accommodate us for the new dates so a visit has been organised to Suffolk Sports Cars instead, this will be on Saturday 15th June with the club National Day taking place on the 16th June at Audley End House near Saffron Walden, Essex.

Participation at both is subject to completion of an attendance form as described in the magazine.

Best regards,

David Goose

This is a little more encouraging, including buyers premium just over £28k but in my opinion still cheap for a good example.

1995 AC BROOKLANDS ACE     LOT: 393
Sold for (£): 25,300

Offered for sale is a 5.0L 1995 AC Brooklands Ace manual that has been with the current owner for the last year. Coming with an extensive history file, this lot's condition scores an impressive 108 / 135.

Hi Frank,

You'll be pleased to know that the other ME you owned is still going strong, doesn't get as much exercise as she should but still a much loved car.

Registration number was changed from MMG 46W to OPE 213W in June 2000 so presumably not long after you sold.

Good luck with the new project.

Hi David,

The under-shield between the front valance and the chassis is sheet aluminium, single piece on the 1994 car and three sections on the 1996 car - much better on the later car as the nearside section can easily be removed to gain access to the oil filter from below.
Relevant to your first query It might be worth considering a perforated material if fabricating a new under-shield as this would allow more air to get to the radiator and oil cooler.

I don't trust the temperature gauge on the red car as it read's far hotter than seems possible, you'll know when the car gets really hot as they tend to smoke slightly from oil and muck burning off around the cats, the smoke then vents out through the rear edge of the bonnet which can be rather disconcerting but soon stops once the grime has disappeared.

Glad to hear you're back on the road.

David

A few pics from the Saturday evening courtesy of Margaret Bathurst-Brown.

On behalf of my Dad (he's on his way to Croatia in the Greyhound Today) I'd like to thank all those that made the effort to join us over the Weekend.
Fantastic to see so many AC's parked around the place.

Which day were you there Mark ?

Went along on the Friday and had a very pleasant day, extremely well organised as usual by David Skittles.

Short of dragging members kicking and screaming to the event I don't really see what more could be done to increase attendance, well publicised in ACtion and on this forum - I suspect the cost of entry is an issue but this would be the same for all clubs of course.

Keep up the good work David and good luck with getting the car sorted  !

Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / Brooklands road wheel
April 21, 2017, 12:33:26
Hens teeth I'm afraid Alex.

Wheels were made by OZ racing and called "Exclusive" this pattern does appear on Ebay from time to time but I've never seen the correct size listed - mostly they're 4 stud to suit VW's.

The early Ace wheels used a plastic centre trim which breaks-up, the later (1996) cars use a cast Aluminium version which is more robust.
The centres appear to be the same for all wheel sizes and do occasionally crop up on ebay.

Have you tried emailing John ?

General Forum / 3 questions

Glenn,

Why not come along to the next council meeting, the 3 points you raise are all valid and have been discussed by the club council in detail and I'm sure will be again.

My own opinions regarding "The Brexit Register" are that as well as providing an important hard copy snap shot of where our cars are at a given point in history the register is something tangible to give to our members, including those with no desire to view the registers online. The online registers will also update periodically losing any historical relevance to members of course.

Maybe the title of the register is a bit emotive and could have simply been the 2016 register but then again it's all about the history.

One more thing, the knowledge and information that comes to the club through non-members using the forum is invaluable so please keep it coming.

Hi Shaun,

I'm not sure where the nearest Turbo equipped car would be to you but if you find yourself out towards Cambridge/Essex borders (Saffron Walden) anytime you would be more than welcome to inspect ME151.

You'll  find my contact details in the club magazine.
