Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / Spring Rates
April 16, 2014, 09:30:24
I've ordered a set of adjustable spax dampers for my 1994 Ace and would like to fit with new, uprated, spring rather than the 20 year old units currently attached to the car.

Can anybody advise factory rates ?

If I knew the OEM spec this may save me having to send the existing units for test.

In my opinion both front and rear springs need to be a bit stiffer on this particular car and Neal from Redline PE has suggested 170Lb (x4) rears but we are struggling with the fronts.

Any thoughts / suggestions /observations most welcome.

   Cheers,

   David

I'm sure most owners will have seen this TV footage from 1995 but if not skip the first 3 minutes 35 seconds and enjoy.

Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / Propshaft Balancing
May 20, 2013, 16:49:39
DE1055 has, and always has had, an irritating vibration which I'm sure is coming from the prop shaft, not noticeable at normal speeds but when forced to exceed the national limit (to aid safe overtaking for example !!) a vibration / thrum gradually builds then subsides as speed decreases.

Have any other Brooklands owners experienced this issue?

Can anyone out there recommend a reliable balancing outfit?

   Thanks, David

Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / Wheels / Hubs
June 21, 2012, 12:08:39
Hi Guys,

Looking to source some alternative wheels with a wider rim for my 1994 project car but not absolutely sure where the hubs come from.

I think the hubs are from the Granada / Scorpio and the 112 PCD version (ford seem to have used two different 5 stud centers). Or could the hubs be Mustang?

Hoping somebody can help as this would avoid a lot of measuring and, I'm sure, a certain amount of trial & error.

   Thanks,

   David

ACOC News and Events / Online Membership
February 10, 2012, 11:46:36
Online membership payment, a brief update.

Since the introduction of the Paypal payment gateway at the end of July last year the club has attracted a number of new members via the shop site, some from the UK but many from abroad including Scandinavia, Europe, Australia and the US.

The numbers below pertain solely to those members who have chosen Paypal as their payment choice, other new members will have chosen to pay their dues via more traditional means.

   New Members: 32
   Membership Renewal: 15

Considering that renewals are not due until the end of the month the figures would suggest that Paypal will be a useful addition to our payment options.

Some minor alterations have been made to the shop site including enhanced drop box options for Country and County/State locations.
We also have a box for inclusion of your current membership number.

It is not necessary to have a Paypal account to use the portal as normal credit / debit cards can be processed through the Paypal system.

   www.acownersclub-shop.co.uk

For existing members renewal payments are due before March 1st.

New members joining now get the benefit of a full 12 months membership including 11 editions of our award winning club magazine ACtion.

General Forum / Electronic Payments
July 01, 2011, 10:01:29
Morning all,

As Andy has stated on the previous thread the Council meeting last night went on a while but was, I hope, very productive - much constructive criticism from this forum was discussed.

As a consequence of part of this "feedback" the Council have tasked me with the job of implementing an electronic payment solution.
Initially we would envisage a simple Pay-Pal option as this is low cost and will enable us to gauge enthusiasm within the club as a whole for this type of payment facility.

Work that is currently being carried out by our Treasurer involving a  Sage Pay solution will continue as this will provide a more structured e-commerce gateway for the future.

I will provide the required detail to enable subscription payments as soon as our internal structure is in place and the necessary arrangements are completed with Pay-Pal / Banks etc.

This process should only take a few days but due to my own Holiday commitments don't expect a to hear from me for a couple of weeks.

Probably shouldn't use the forum for this purpose but I am looking for a UK built Brooklands - preferably manual- to keep the 3000ME company.

Have an add going in to ACtion next month but am aware that some owners aren't ACOC members.

If you are looking to sell please call David Goose on M:07931 142901   or e.mail davidjgoose at aol.com

General Forum / 1995 Ace - scraped
October 22, 2007, 20:45:02
Thought somebody may be interested in this listing on e-bay.

Real shame to see an AC being scraped, I guess the cost of sorting the aly bodywork far outways the cars likely value.
