Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / ABS ECU more news
April 17, 2022, 17:35:23
Delighted to say that the ABS is now fully functional! After replacing the pump, module and ECU, plus reluctor rings and associated bits, it turned out that the wiring to the wheel sensors was the wrong way round i.e. left went to right wheel sensor and vice versa, apparently going back to when the car was built....
One bonus to it all is that there is now a red hood light showing on starting the car- it's only there briefly after flashing on and off a couple of times but at least there's a sign of life! I've tried to operate the hood but nothing happens and there's no further red light activity. Next thing is to check/replace the micro switches to see if that helps. Any ideas anyone?

Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / Ace Brooklands for sale
January 24, 2022, 16:48:02
I shall be selling my Ace before too long - DE1034 built in 1995. Usual corrosion on seams, hood doesn't work but the ECU and motor both check out as good, new mohair hood, Had a bodywork refresh in 2015 I think, to the tune of £20000. Mechanically good, quite a selection of spares some new old stock. Redline sports exhaust. Ford Tourmaline green metallic, green and Ascot grey upholstery. Approximately 50000 miles recorded. Original Owners' handbook with car. Two owners from new, myself for the past twenty-one years. All MOTs available. Reg 2874 AC included, valued at £3000. Offers around £19000 invited.

As I need to now move the car on as I need the garage space for a Jaguar XJ8 SEL, I'm open to offers. I can be reached either through the Forum or via pandbmoynihan@yahoo.co.uk

Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / Hood microswitches
January 24, 2022, 16:37:07
Does anyone know where all of the hood microswitches are located please? I know there's one on the handbrake and another one on the driver's side hoodframe but I'm guessing that there are more hiding away somewhere! Any help most welcome and appreciated!

Does anyone have information on the rear coil springs on the Ace Brooklands please? I'm looking to get some uprated ones to try and stiffen up the suspension and get rid of the well-known 'thump' at the rear end. Trouble is, I don't quite know where to start! If anyone has any information no matter how trivial, please help with some answers!
Many thanks!

Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / Hood power
December 02, 2020, 12:28:28
Is there anybody out there who can help me on this one? Does the power supply to the hood mechanism have a fuse? Does anyone know where it's located? My car has a working pump, a tested ECU, correct level of hydraulic fluid and no apparent leaks on any of the hood hydraulics. With the engine running, none of the lights regarding hood operation work. Any ideas welcome!

A number of years ago, when I was previously a member of the ACOC, there was talk of putting together a list of which cars our parts originated from. There must be a huge store of knowledge amongst the members and a parts list would be a wonderful thing to have! We all know that the windscreen is Ford Sierra, but (for instance) did you know the screen sealing strip was apparently Renault? I've found out where quite a few bits started life so, if we all put our knowledge together, it could save weeks of fruitless searches. I bet someone responds now and tells me it's already in place....!

Next question!

The interior windscreen trims, the ones at either side that are covered in Alcantara - does anyone know how they are attached and how to remove them please?

Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / Top Ball Joints

Does anyone know what the top ball joints are off please? They look rather like XJ6 ones but being as there's so much Ford stuff on the car, that would seem unlikely.

Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / Non-starting
November 20, 2014, 10:40:52
Have now got a further problem - the car refuses to start! Got trailered home on the back of an AA truck a couple of weeks ago. AA man said the ignition control module was faulty. Got a new one and fitted it but no joy. Fitted a new engine management control unit (had one spare) but that didn't do it. Called in a mobile car electrics man who reckoned it was a faulty coil. Replaced the coil with a new one and it started first time. Also have new leads, rotor arm and distributor cap fitted. Starting got progressively worse and now I'm back to square one with the car not starting at all. On trying to start, the engine sort of coughs once and turns over easily on the starter motor but nothing more. Any ideas on what I now need to look at? The car is a 1995 model, DE 1034 with the injected 302 engine. Many thanks for any advice![:)]

Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / Bonnet hinge
August 01, 2013, 11:04:05
I'm looking for a nearside bonnet hinge assembly for my 1995 Brooklands Ace. Any ideas what it's off or is it a purpose made one for the Ace? Or, does anyone have one for sale? Many thanks in anticipation!

Can anyone tell me what the rear lower wishbone outer pivots and bushes are off? Are they bushes or are there needle rollers instead? Slight play detected at the MOT so will need to fix before it gets worse.

Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / Ace Brooklands parts
June 10, 2012, 19:16:19
Some years ago, there was talk in th ACOC of drawing up a list of the sources of parts for the Ace Brooklands. To my knowledge, this never came to fruition which is obviously a very great pity, especially as some of the source cars are long out of production and the spares are now only available as second-hand or limited new. I'd be most happy to act as collator of parts origins but would be totally dependent on owners contributing whatever snippits of knowledge they have. As our cars number around 50 or so, such a parts compatability list could mean the difference between life or death for their future. So, if you have any info regarding parts and part numbers, source cars etc for the Ace Brooklands, please get in touch! My email is pandbmoynihan@yahoo.co.uk Even the smallest bit of information is going to be useful! Once I have a sufficient list of parts. I am most happy to email my findings to owners on a regular basis - if you could email me your contact details and chassis number, I'll do the rest! Although I appear as AcemanToo, my real name is Patrick Moynihan; I look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Everyone!

Don't know if there's anyone out there who can help but I've lost one of the wheel centres for my 1995 AC Brooklands Ace. It's currently sitting in a hedge somewhere relatively close to my home, but so far, no luck at all in finding it. Does anyone have a wheel centre to sell, or know of somewhere that might have one? I tried OZ Racing who made the wheels but learnt that they were very specific to the Ace with no commonality with any other car. Great eh! Hope to hear something,
   Regards,
   Patrick Moynihan.
