Topics - MkIV Lux

#1
Hi guys,
I need to replace the lower ball joints (maybe called differently in proper mechanical engineering language) of the rear Koni shocks on my 1993 MkIV (AKL1417).
The attached pic of bad quality faintly shows the components.. After cleaning 4 components are revealed sitting in the main plain metal extension of the shock:
- 1 outer ring (with inner side concave) held in place by 2 clips fitting into grooves
- 1 inner ring (with outer face convex) (can be put in place sideways into the outer ring)
The main bolt goes through the inner ring and has each side a cylindrical spacer (featuring a small lip one side) to hold the shock in the middle of the suspension arm pickup.

If anybody has replaced this assembly, I would be delighted to get feedback particularly on sourcing of the parts.
Attached also a schematic drawing (not to scale) showing the assembly.

mans thanks in advance

Urgent help needed :-\
My 1993 Mk IV with standard 302 EFI engine does not start.
Fuel pump OK - fuel available at the injection ramp
Ignition OK
Engine is cranked OK
Injectors however are DRY: injectors obviously are not commanded/steared properly or at all.

How to source the problem?
Thanks for any help

Hi All,

   Following happened recently on my car (1993 Cobra Mk IV AKL with EFI engine, under boot flat fuel tank, fuel filler on right hand rear  fender)
   - car parked in a steep parking lot (slope of about 10-15%), nose pointing downwards;
   - tank had been filled up completely including filler neck just about 2 miles before the car was parked;
   - about 10 minutes later, fuel started to run out under the nose  (not by drips but by steady flow);
   - quick check revealed that fuel ran out from the most forward of the 2 "mushrooms" covering the two large ports of the fuel vapor storage canister (sitting on right hand side in front of front crossframe);
   - I assume that the two "mushroom" are ventilation covers;

   Turned the car around 180 degrees, now tail pointing downwards and nose pointing upwards, and the leak stopped.

   Left the car overnight. Next morning it started normally and worked without any trouble during the first 500 meters. The road then took a very steep hill (gradient about 20%) and the engine started to buck, like getting no fuel for a couple of seconds; no misfires and no afterburning; when reached the top of the slope and we were again running on more or less flat ground with more standard slopes up or down, the engine ran perfectly as always; no further sign during the whole day where I covered some 30 kms with multiple stops. And travelled 200 kms in the evening and 800 kms next day without the faintest indication of any problem.

   I assume that the vapor storage had been flooded with petrol when the car was parked  nose downward on steep slope.

   Two hoses connect to the 2 smaller ports at the front top of the vapor storage assy:
   - one hose connects the interior port (the larger of the 2) to a copper pipe running alongside the chassis rail (hence obviously starting at the rear end of the car, but so far I have not been able to look under the car and trace the start of that line); this is in fact the return line for the vapours and is connected to the tank at its upper side behind the rear right side wheel (24/7/2018)
   - the second hose connects the exterior port (the smaller one) to the injection system.

   Can anybody explain the function of this vapour storage assembly, and the flows of liquid or vapour? If it should be a simple vapor recovery or ventilation system from the tank, and should be principally dry, I would assume that the larger of the two small ports would be connected at some point to the filler neck of the tank (see addition of 24/7/2018 above)
   The image below shows the 2 large ports unvovered; on my car they have a kind of "mushroom" form cover. I'll take another picture tonight.

   Grateful for any advice hereabout.

   Many thanks in advance

Does anybody have the part number and make reference of the rear wheel hub bearings and seals of the Mk IV (early 1990's production)?

ACOC International 2015 – Luxembourg

   Save the dates!

   Luxembourg being a tiny country with only limited hotel availabilities suiting the needs of an ACOC International in terms of quality and number of rooms as well as appropriate parking for our beloved mounts, the dates for this event have now been set at 5 to 9 August 2015.

   The venue is Kikuoka Golf Country Club Hotel   in Scheierhaff  L-5412 Canach, situated in the country site some 20 kms south-east of Luxembourg-City. Besides traditional restaurant and bar, saunas, jacuzzis, indoor pool, fitness centre and solarium, it features an 18 holes golf course as well as secure parking.

   We have been able to get a commitment on 40 double rooms held until mid-November 2014, so it is important to make quick decisions on joining this premium event in the 2015 ACOC calendar, as the number of rooms is limited and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

   We are still busy organizing the programme around interesting options for visits both cultural and happy motoring related, and will provide you with the final program in due course. For your guidance, the cost of this International will remain within a total budget of around 1.400 € per couple/car in double room (breakfast, lunches & dinners with drinks, and events included).

   What you are also offered on this International is the lowest petrol prices in the EU, so make sure you arrive with an almost empty tank. And the more you drive, the more you save [;)][;)].
   However avoid the motor way filling stations: you will save time also.

   More detail will come via this forum and via the usual ACOC member contact channels and through ACtion.

   Of course you can already indicate your interest or get an answer to any question by calling me on +352 621500758 or emailing me at constant.wagner@pt.lu

   We hope to see you in Luxembourg in 2015.
