Hello!
CLB engine were designed in the 50ies when 72 octane pool petrol was avilable. And timed at 12 1/2 degrees before T.D.C.
CLB after 2457, were already advanced to 21.
now that the minimum standard is 95 Octanes, should the timing be altered? what is is the reccomanded practice?
Should as well engine prior 2457 being timed to 21 degrees?

I was not aware that numbers were even stamped on the glove box lid!
every single part was then specifically adapted for each car.
I knew about bonnets, door, reas hatch beeing marked, but didnt knew about the glove box.
Here a picture of what i seem to read being 721 glove box, currently not on 721.

Sorry if this has already been discussed elsewhere, but I was not able to find a reference.
I would like to know which would be the standard battery type for an AC Aceca.
Thanks!

Hello!
I am quite new so sorry if this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find precise reference.
So I thought we could consolidate this in a single post. But if the information is already available, please feel free to delete this post and thank you in advance for addressing me to the existing posts.

•   I would like to ask which oil people are using for a CLB Engine.
I see the manual suggest a 30W, but I see 20w50 is used as well now. Which is the current standard?

•   For gearbox oil, the manual suggest same as engine oil. So 30W should be used? Or 20W50 would be ok as well?

•   Differential oil, I think this is a no-brainer, 90 Hypoid is the norm.

•   For clutch and brake fluid, the manual suggests Girling fluid only. Not sure if still available.
What is the current practice for this? DOT4 is ok? Or aggressive on the seal?

•   For the cooling system water + antifreeze is ok? What is the best to try to preserve the aluminum of the engine block? Which percentage of Antifreeze? Which type?

Thanks!!!

Hi All!
this is Eddie, a new member of the club.
I am looking for an Aceca to restore and enjoy! no matter the state of the car, and no matter if an AC or Bristol engined car.
Any condition and any location considered!
The important is that is an Aceca!
Thank you and best regards!
