General Forum / TV programmes.

How do you like your AC related documetaries?
If you fancy an hour long prog called 'Shelby' riddled with screaming inaccuracies and narrated from french to English(...and in the case of interviews with Caroll(sic) Shelby, overdubbed in french and English) tune in to 'MOTORSTV' on Sky channel 413, for showing times, Click HERE.
[EDIT]NOTE: Classicus, please do NOT watch this program, as the french owner of the '427`ed' Frua`s comments that the 428 was so unpopular that 52 of them were converted in the same way as his may cause offence.[/EDIT][;)]

Somewhat better is 'GT Racers' following the Historic/TopHat/Gentleman drivers` scene. Sorry to have missed the first one from Porto(see Boavista thread) and Silverstone, but you can still catch the Nurburgring Oldtimers Event this Sunday & 'USA' next Sunday on 'Dave'(satellite ch.111, Freeview ch.19) see HERE.

General Forum / Sources of AC Spares
December 08, 2007, 12:43:26
I`m aware that the ACOC hold a quantity of spare parts,
that The Brooklands Motor Company is the Official UK repairer,
and that (I, amongst others, have quoted that)
Gerry Hawkridge can supply spares/replacement parts, but is there an actual AC 'Factory' spares department still in existance?
Whilst wishing to assist owners with their cars, I`d like to think I`m not treading on toes by my actions.
   Nik.

Yes, I know I spend too much time trawling through eBay, but maybe you`ll thank me if your collection of ACtions is missing 1983 & 1984, or the AC Owners Club Bulletins from 1952 & 1953.
Click on the pictures to go direct to the relevant pages.
NOTE: I`m not, nor linked to, the seller! This is a public service!!![:D]

Vintage, PVT & 2 Litre Forum / Ripping Yarns AC?
October 18, 2007, 08:01:32
Yes, I am that person, the one who watches BBC4!
They are currently showing the series 'Ripping Yarns'(the Monty Python spin-off)and the episode called "Murder at Moorstones Manor" featured a 1920`s AC, to which (one of)Michael Palin`s character intended some outrageous modifications!
Bearing in mind that the series was filmed 30 years ago, does anyone know if the car is still extant?

General Forum / Rare AC book on eBay.

Just spotted "AC" by Martyn Watkins

on eBay, pretty unusual to see this one up for grabs, and no, it`s not me selling it! [:D]
   [edit]
Just noticed the same fellow selling THIS

For our French-speaking AC fans too!

Does anyone know whether This Lightweight (AKL 1356?) ever sold? I recall seeing the advert some time ago & just stumbled across it again. The website appears to have had 6000+ views since September 2005.

I wonder if Carol(sic) Shelby got many splinters in his hands making those original wooden lasts?[:o)]

I believe the original plan was to make 26-ish Lightweights, but what was the actual figure? I thought there were about 70 in the end, would this be wrong? [?]

There`s an excellent report from the Porto Historic Grand Prix meeting on the Ultimate Carpagewebsite, with AC represented by Ace Bristol & Cobra,

Below are a series of photographs from the Brooklands Centenary Celebration on 16th/17th June 2007, the first 3 are from Trevor Legate, all the others are from Steve Gray who organised the AC display.

For those of you that haven`t spotted it yet, there is a several page article about the fearsomely modified 428 of Tony [edit] Valenti....not Levanti[:I][/edit] in the June issue of Classics Monthly:

That`s it in the top right-hand corner, labelled "Racey AC".
You`ll have to look sharp getting a copy, as being nearly June, the July issue will be out soon!!!!!

I`ve just spotted THIS CRS BROCHURE on eBay, 1 day to go.

At £35 this looks a little dear for a reprint, but if you HAVE to have one, THIS HANDBOOK is on eBay.

I thought I`d kick off the new Vintage Section with a 1914 advert for the Sociable:

The chassis number doesn`t seem right to me(you see those chassis plates blank on eBay from time to time!), and how does it have an engine number if it`s (presumably) never had an engine....[?]

An 'Orginal' AC428 Handbook on eBay! Is that the collective term for 428`s? An Orgy of Fruae? [:o)]
No wonder they are so popular with the ladies!
£50 starting price seems a little rich to me....
