Thanks to member Ian Strange who has prepared a YouTube video of the event. Grab a cup of coffee, sit back and enjoy. Ian has created a very professional overview of the day, use this link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQwPeNjkI90

General Forum / Re: ACOC Facebook page
May 09, 2024, 00:06:17
As the Facebook page is dormant does that say that members and those interested use this Forum in preference?
There are several websites for the various AC models as we are all aware of and frequent.
Surely the more websites and other social media platforms available only goes to dilute those interested in posting informative information - asking themselves where best to post to get the best response. If messages are posted on this forum then they can disseminated to other sites etc as need be.
To me this Forum should be and continue to be the focal point for the AC enthusiast.

No the Club is not doing anything officially for this event as it is the day after the Clubs National Day in Derby. All the Clubs display material will be still be in Derby.

Saying that always looking for and considering new events. Ideas welcome.

Following National Day the next major scheduled Club exhibition/display event will be the Classic Motor Show at the NEC in November.

The ACOC National Day and Concours will be on Sunday 26th May 2024 at the newly opened Great Northern Classics, (www.greatnorthernclassics.co.uk) facility in Derby.

This year the Club is not only celebrating its 75th anniversary, making it one of the oldest single make car clubs in the UK, it will be celebrating many other AC landmarks.

There will be a static display of AC cars including the Jack Sears 'Black Flag' race winning AC Cobra '39 PH', the AC Cobra Coupe produced by AC Cars for Le Mans, tested by Peter Bolton and Jack Sears, on the M1, at 185 mph, and the AC Aceca once owned by Sir Donald Campbell, plus several more AC cars from years gone by.

The event begins at 10.30hrs, with the gates open at 09.30hrs; the day will include several talks on the marque with a tour of the Great Northern Classics facility open to all. The Club Concours will be held at lunchtime with awards at 14.30hrs and the event concludes at 15.00hrs. Lunch and refreshments will be available.

The event is open to everyone, not just AC members, with an admission charge of £12 per person payable on the day.

For those considering making a weekend visit to Derbyshire there is a Club Meal arranged on the Saturday evening, 25th May, at the Priest House Hotel, Castle Donington. The Club has reserved rooms at the hotel too. Details of which can be found in ACtion.

For further information please contact the event coordinator; Leo Archibald, E: leo.archibald@gmail.com Tel: 07419 128885.

AC 3000ME Owners' Meeting
Sunday 24th September 2023
De Havilland Aircraft Museum, Salisbury Hall, London Colney, AL2 1BU

Final arrangements for the event are complete as noted below. Hoping for a group of thirty plus, and 8 to 10 MEs.
Timetable
10.30 to 11.00   Arrival, with light refreshments.
11.15 to 13.15   Museum guided tour.
14.00      Photo shoot (weather permitting)
16.30      Last departure

Arrival
We have been allocated up to twenty cars to be parked on the apron outside the Mosquito hanger. As you arrive please do not use the main visitor's car park, drive a few yards past it towards double gates where you will be greeted by a member of the museum staff who will then direct you where to go.
Should there be more than twenty cars arriving all ACs take priority.

Payment
It is £20 per person. Fiona, Ian's wife, has kindly offered to collect the money. When you have parked please find Fiona to pay, (do not pay in the museum entrance).
Fiona will hand you a name badge which we ask you to wear during the museum tour.
Please ensure you bring cash as we do not have the facility to accept card payments.

Museum Tour
We have been allotted two tour guides. Therefore, two groups both starting at the same time but will tour the museum in different directions. The tour takes no longer than two hours.

Photo shoot
We hope that the Mosquito will form the backdrop with the ACs parked in front of her. This is at the discretion of the museum staff and the weather.

Catering
The museum has a café for lunch if you wish to take advantage of the facility.

Any questions please contact:

3000ME OWNERS' MEETING
SUNDAY 24TH SEPTEMBER 2023
DE HAVILLAND AIRCRAFT MUSEUM, SALISBURY HALL, LONDON COLNEY, HERTFORDSHIRE, AL2 1BU

I know it has been a long time in coming.

The museum holds frequent car club events so we should be well looked after. It's not every day you the chance to see Mosquito too!

Please make the effort to attend, preferably in your ME, to meet fellow owners and share experiences/knowledge.

At the last count there were 83 MEs in the UK, it would be good if ten percent could make this event.

More details will be made available much nearer the date.

Now is the time to be positive and get that MOT.

The event is open to all AC owners as well, more the merrier!

(This advert will be appearing in future editions of ACtion and will be on 3000ME website forum and on the 3000ME Facebook page.)

I am sure the Club would love to run a track day. Is there anyone prepared to put their hand-up as organiser? Are there sufficient members interested in taking part?

Chaps if you are concerned about non delivery of the magazine please just email Bob Langley, Membership Sec or myself directly and will check and if need be arrange for a fresh copy to me sent.
There are occasions when the mag is late, there are legitimate reasons for this, no way do I ever wish for it to be delayed.

Oh Nik, don't be negative. You never know you could win the lottery this weekend then I guarantee the car would be in your garage come the following weekend. BUT if you don't win the lottery and I do I'll buy it for you!

The Club has been invited for AC Owners to attend this event.

If the weather is good, it can be popular, and some 1000 to 2000 members of the public have attended such days in the past.  Organisers are in the process of arranging for a Spitfire and/or Hurricane of the BBMF to make a flypast sometime during the day, and the site has good facilities etc grass parking for the car display.

This is a fundraising event – so whilst there is no entry charge, everyone attending is expected to make some kind of donation.  Limited space for ~100 Vintage/Classic vehicles (and for the sake of variety), also limiting each Vintage or Classic type to 5-10 parking spaces (on a first come, first served basis).

Should you wish to attend please contact the organiser, BGFC Event Organisation Team, by 10th May latest. You will need to advise car details, ie vehicle registration number before the event – you will then be emailed back an entry disc by return.  Arrival before 9:30am on the day to park up is essential please - to avoid/mitigate congestion risk on the local road(s).  Because of the terms of the event insurance, the event will close at 5pm that evening.

Two page article on MA-200 in the April 2022 ACtion. It even tells you how much the car is to buy from DK Engineering - a worthy investment one would hope.

It has been pointed out an error has creeped into Auction News, pages 41 to 43, in this months magazine. The Irvine-Fynn collection is being auctioned at the Bonhams Goodwood Members Meeting on 10th April.
My apologies.
