This is still plodding through the production process, now that things are getting a little more back to normal in the industry.

Thanks - Gerry Hawkridge has put me on to Jones Springs, who I think supply him now Brost has gone.  I'm waiting for some quotes.

Does anyone know a good company in the UK that can re-temper sagging leafsprings?  My Cobra is sitting lower than I'd like and I'd like to sort them.  I've used Brost Forge before but I think they ceased trading in June '19.

Yes - the manufacturer is now back working again, and we are hoping to get some idea of likely prices before much longer.

Took a day off from Jag metal bashing and finally got around to making a Cobra rear hub puller.

This device picks up on the upper leafspring pin and the lower wishbone pin locations on the rear hub upright, and will take a Sykes-Pickavant 12-ton hydraulic press to push the rear hub shaft out of its bearings in the upright.  Should save me having to cut off the disc to access the bearing housing, like I did last time...

I'm finally cracking on with the bodywork on my XK140 DHC.  I stripped it last year, cut it in half and sent it off to be blasted in instalments.  The chassis is fine but otherwise it's new sills, floorpans, lower half of bulkhead, boot floor panels and doorskins.  I also had to make new wooden door frames out of Utile.  Then there are over 20 pieces of walnut veneered trim to sort, not to mention the mechanicals...

This is where we are now, with front half back on the frame, door hinges rebuilt and doors mounted and gapped.  The rear body is back on, and this is preliminary alignment before all the tack welds are converted into seams.  Mostly MIG with a bit of TIG - and I remembered to get fresh gas bottles the day before lockdown!

For once, I think the consultation has been well thought-through and makes good recommendations.  The Federation has made its mark well with a pretty strong emphasis evident on historic vehicles, which we're not used to seeing in recent legislation, so hopefully the message is getting through.  The proposal to keep 97RON as the protection E5 grade is particularly welcome as this will be more helpful to historic vehicles with a higher state of tune.

Gerry sells the standard Orson offering, which is incorrect for period Cobra.  It is Gerry and Orson who are planning the more accurate version.

That didn't come out quite right - what I meant was that the switches Gerry sells are better quality VW ones rather than cheap repros.  They are not the AC-supplied ones Dan mentions.

Gerry Hawkridge can supply stainless steel tanks.  His indicator switches are higher-quality VW ones (not the cheap repros), as shown in Dan's pictures.  I don't think he has any with the early switchgear shown - I've never seen one of these.
