Title: New Year's Day Parade
Post by: bobbylangley on October 28, 2015, 21:11:39
This was meant to be in the October issue of ACtion but by the time you receive November the date may be too late. We have been invited to take part in the London New Year's Day Parade which is attended by a large number of spectators and is shown live on TV. See http://lnydp.com/gallery/videos/
Mike Loughton (organiser) needs final numbers and also must have paper work back by the latest Tuesday/Wednesday 3/4th November. The reason being they need to collate, and package all the photographs and text on each vehicle, ready for the typesetters to churn out brochures to include all participants in the Parade.
6-8 vehicles can go so please contact Terry Webb if you would like to be a star for a day!

Come on Guys and Girls,

As I understand it there are only 2 participants so far for the parade. This is chance to get AC's out there. Lets try and get a good spread of models, Most people only know AC through the Cobra, so lest try and show them there are more Ac's than generally known. There must be enough cars and owners in and around London area to get a good showing together, and you could pick up a bargain at the sales for the missus as well. Lets have an Ace, a Cobra, a Frua and Greyhound a true vintage Ac as well and even an Invacar, etc etc. It must be possible.  So come on and have a good day of it.

   Cheers G

Hi Again.

I am told that we now have 4 members up for the parade, so still need 4 more, come on members lets show some of the other clubs that AC's are  glorious cars, lets get a full range out there. I believe the invite is also going to be in Action so maybe a few more will come forward yet.

Isee that the Sprint has got a good response after all, well done. Now apply some of that to the parade.

   Cheers  G

I hear from Terry that we only made 5 cars for the Parade.  Shame really but better than none.  I am sure though if your quick you can still contact Terry and get on list.

   Cheers  G

Well done Terry for getting it all sorted.

Shame only 5 cars in the end.
   1 3000me
   1 2 litre saloon
   2 brooklands Ace
   1 Mk1v

Pity could not get a few more early cars a PVT an early Ace etc.

There seems to me to be a sense of apathy about the AC club sometimes, This could have been a nice parade to show of the range of cars that AC produced over the years. I read in another post by Shep re the Goodwood sprint (that yes, I did not get to, but only due to a failed dynamo) that numbers of AC owners have fallen over the years. Such a shame as the AC range are lovely cars all.

Anyway great that some can be bothered to turn up at events, but maybe next year owners will fly thge flag a bit more.

The organisers have sent this email to remind participants of a few things:

   Good afternoon,

I hope you all had a most wonderful Christmas, and I am sure that a good New Year is on the cards!!

Just a quickie e-mail to remind you, that your Car security pass must accompany you and your vehicle, so that you may firstly, enter the security area, and secondly, your security wrist band will enable you to take part in the Parade. Therefore the two parts of the security pass and band will be inspected at the assembly area before departure onto the route. Please also inform all your passengers that they must also wear their wrist bands, or they will not be allowed into the Parade

I will try to catch up with you all at the end of the parade, as that is my designated area of contact during the Parade.

Have a great time, and enjoy the experience, as it is your first time, and hopefully, one of many.

Thanks for your support, as always.

   Mike Loughton.

Hi ya

Well made it to event.  4 cars in all, poor old Terry had car problems and had to turn back.

All a bit disorganised but the cars went down well with the viewing public. Suprised how many did not know of AC cars, many knew of Cobra. So we put a few AC in the publics mind.

Here is a link to the motley crew waiting to get going.

Next year I'm going to Brooklands looked like more fun.

Cheers and a happy new year.

Well done to you all for attending, It was a bit short notice and perhaps if we find out earlier it will be repeated. The hood looked good Mike and good to see Gary got his car there with all the work he has been doing. And two elegant Brooklands Aces gave it a mix to show the crowds.
