Hi All.
I'm new here so please would you excuse if my questions have been asked previously.
I am seeking to change the 16" wheels on my CRS to 15".
I am looking at 8" fronts and 9.5" rears (using Vintage Wheels fronts and Trigo rears).
I have a couple of questions if you don't mind:
Q1: Are there any issues with rubbing on these sizes in respect of mechanics - eg tie rods?
Q2: I want the tyres to fill the arches to give the proper balloon tyre look. Do 65mm sidewall height tyres fit without issue/rubbing on the arches?
Thanks so much for your help and for your insights!

Hello,
This is a well discussed issue, if you use the "search" function on the forum it should take you to the various posts on the subject.
Out of interest did you go vintage wheels ( rather than Trigo) at the front so you could clear the AP calipers?
Regards
Graham
Hi Graham
Actually, this is proving more difficult than I thought, given I cannot find out the specs of the brakes. Trigo do not work on them. The brakes are too big. Vintage Wheels may have the same issue.
Do you know which CP reference number were applicable to the AP Racing 4 pot brakes?
Image Wheels near Birmingham have said they are willing to custom make a set of wheels for me if I can locate the specs of the brakes.
Thanks!

I got a fair bit of info from one of the AP race engineers as I had the same with my front wheels ( Trigo).
The caliper used was CP5205-16/17S4. Apparently this was the narrowest size
I know there are a few Crs with 15" wheels so suitable rims were made but I don't think they are available new now.
Might have been Gerry Hawkridge that had them.
Think you have to watch the rear offset as well with Trigo on CRS.
One suggestion I got was to space the hub spindle outwards a bit.
Thank you!
It's been interesting to say the least. AC Heritage, AP Racing, Image Wheels, Redline, Trigo have all been incredibly helpful, particularly AC Heritage. Redline sourced some front FIAs for me (will need spacers I believe). Still looking for rear 15" Halibrand Wineglass in 9.5J/10J with the reduced backspacing for the Mk IV.
I've been so impressed with the Cobra community so thank you.
Hi. Just thought I'd send an update. I ended up with the FIA style fronts and the Trigo rears. Exactly the look I was going for - with 10mm spacers up front. Nothing else required.
AC Heritage have been amazing.

Hi Graham. Yes, I did go for vintage FIA wheels but still needed a 10mm spacer.
Thanks - do you know what model of fia fronts you got?
I'm assuming they match the Trigo rears?

During the last 3 years I fitted 15 inch wheel to 3 MK IVs without any big problem as long as the resonators in ghe resr wheel arch is removed and replaced by a tighter fitting tube.
All 3 cars received 1% inch Halibrand design wheels from Vintage wheels in the US.
Rear tires are 275/55 R15 from Avon. The wheel arches are filled nicely you still have no problems with complete compressed rear damper units during a hard ride. Front tires can be 235/65 R15 or 235/60 R15.
At the moment the 235/65 R15 are mounted at the front.
No issues at all. If you neeed the wheels machined a bit to get over bigger calipers you can give your requirements to Vintage Wheels and they will do custom wheels for you.
