Title: May 4-9 Cobra Tour West Virginia U.S.A.
Post by: Dan Case on May 26, 2025, 17:15:20
Tom Cotter and Jim Maxwell have been organizing driving tour events for original Cobras and 427 Cobras in the eastern part of the United States for almost two decades now. Most of the tours have been along the eastern side of the U.S.A. through scenic mountain areas. Several years ago, a few GT350s started participating also.

They named the spring 2025 tour the Almost Heaven Tour.  May 4 through 9, the home base for the event was The Stonewall Resort near Weston West Virginia. Each of four touring days were made up of driving through the mountains to a mid-day destination or two and then a return ride back to the resort in the afternoon. Most of the routes stayed in West Virginia but one day the tour ventured into Maryland.  I added up the daily miles to get 872 total.

Most of the participants and their cars were relatively local to our southeast. One couple came from Alaska and drove a GT350. Another trailered their Cobra from upper Washington State. Martha and I trailered our red car from Bozeman Montana to the resort and back for a 4,105 miles truck round trip.

Yes, we had some rain but that is typical for almost anywhere in the southeastern U.S.A. the first week of May.
Martha and I arrived a day early and with rain in the forecast for the following days we found a store from which  we could buy some additional rain gear for ourselves. If any of the Cobras or 427 Cobras participating in these events have had a hood (a.k.a. soft top) with them, they were not deployed.

Martha took this picture one day during a lunch stop.
